Project Overview

Reliable Luminescence

Stainless Steel

Waverly Library

Baltimore, MD

Stainless steel laser cut panels make up the four book jackets on the facade of the Waverly Library. The innovative use of space and new technologies to foster communication and social interaction creates new opportunities and initiatives for public art in the context of urban revitalization, renewal efforts and the use of public space. Public art in an urban environment can have a powerful social function, renewing citizenship through a sense of place and cultural activities.

The high visibility of the venue and immediate environs will be a catalyst that fosters dialogue within and beyond the Waverly communities. Reliable Luminescence public art project focuses attention on the library, establishing it as a place to inspire the individual, to celebrate the community and to showcase Baltimore as a city of the future.
